What makes or breaks a writer?
Persistence breeds success. A writer has to believe her work is good, that it can always be better and it is worthy of her voice. Then she has to hang in there until her work is recognized. The same is true for men, of course.
What's the best way, you've found, to defeat writer's block?
Start writing as if you are taking dictation. Trust the process. Pretty soon the brain kicks in gear and the block is gone.
