Would it be helpful or interesting to people to have writing exercises to jump start creativity posted in the blog and then have us write 300 words (or a small sample) in comments?  This would be similar to Miss Snark's Last Victim, a blog I follow.  She recently created a fantasy scenario and asked people to write 7 lines of dialog to follow.  The results were mixed, but worth doing from my perspective.  Another time she did a "drop the needle" sample of dialog from our WIP.  That was tremendously helpful in re-writing a section that needed it.  I'd be interested in participating.  Maybe the group could post a challenge before a meet up as a contest---winner chosen by the organizers or an independent 3rd part (one of the area published writers).  Then we all chip in to buy the winner's coffee and treats at the meet up (assuming we are at a venue that has coffee and treats.  That would give those of us who don't always come to meetings more opportunties to participate.  And would encourage the winner to show up!

See Susan's 3 a.m. epiphany exercise. Susan, is that under forums or blogs?
